build a network using a Macintosh operating system


Connecting the PC in the network using Windows-based operating system possible for you is common. but connecting computers with operating systems other than Windows, such as the Macintosh operating system, requires a different setting process. once a network administrator is still often experience obstacles when setting up the network settings on PC Macintosh.


Here we will try the steps to set up networking on the Macintosh operating system version 10.1.3. it is assumed that one end of the cable networks have been installed on the NIC (Network Interface Card) on the computer, and the other end of the cable networks have been installed in the HUB.
  1. Adjusting settings on the system Preference (SP), is similar to the Windows Control Panel. to enter the SP you should select the Apple menu located in the upper left. then select the SP and the dialog box will come out.
  2. On the Internet and Network select the Network icon, then the Network dialog box opens. For location, you can select Automatic. but if you need more than one setting, you can create a new one by selecting New Location. In the position below it there is Show, which shows another setting that will be displayed when you select it. suppose Internal Modem; that tells which type of provider is used, TCP / IP, Proxies up modem. This dialog box to set up an Internet connection via direct modem contained on a computer.
  3. The next is a Built-In Ethernet is shown to inter-connect your computer, whether using the same operating system or not the same. tab on the TCP/ IP there are several configurations that must be filled. on the Configure IPv4, select manually so you dlam set IP manually. Here we fill in the IP class C, the 192.168.0.1. whereas filled Subnet 255.255.255.0. Others can fill in later if necessary. You also can set the IP dynamically by selecting DHCP.
  4. AppleTalk Tab section. Make Appletalk Active choose options for your Macintosh to communicate with the Macintosh operating systems that use a previous version, such as operating systems 9.2 and earlier. there are only a classic on OS Appletalk feature to communicate between a Macintosh, or with other operating systems. Activating Appletalk will also increase the speed of data transfer.
  5. Once satisfied with all the settings before you do, press the Apply Now button to immediately apply the configuration.
 Next, set the same configuration to another Macintosh. to try whether the configuration is successful, activate the finder menu or click the mouse on the desktop. select the Go menu and select the network. will display a dialog box, and you can select the name of the Macintosh who wish to be contacted. You will be asked to enter User and Password of the Macintosh who want the connection.
