Romney Call U.S. policy in the Middle East Must be Changed


Washington, United States presidential candidate of the Republican Party, Mitt Romney criticized President Barack Obama's policy on the Middle East. According to Romney, Obama's policies have failed in the face of extremist challenges.

Triggered Romney, it's time to change course in the Middle East. Romney emphasized, his government will not tolerate anti-American riots that have left worsen under the Obama administration.

"I know the president expects the Middle East a safer, freer and more prosperous allied with the United States. I also expect the same. But hope is not a strategy," Romney said in a speech given quote the campaign. It will be submitted Romney in a speech at Virginia Military Institute.

"It is time to change course in the Middle East," Romney said as quoted by news agency AFP on Monday (08/10/2012).

"We can not support our friends and defeat our enemies in the Middle East when our words are not backed up by deeds ... and the perception of our strategy is not a partnership, but passivity," he added.

In his speech, Romney also used the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya on 11 September as an example of how the extremists take advantage of U.S. weakness.

"The attack on the U.S. last month should not be viewed as a random act. Attacks were an expression of a larger struggle that is playing in the Middle East," said Romney.

Romney also said the U.S. government should take a tougher stance on Iran nuclear. "For the sake of peace, we must make clear to Iran through actions, not just words, that their nuclear development will not be tolerated," said Romney.
